Sree Siddhartha
Medical College (SSMC) was started in the year 1988 by Sree Siddhartha
Educational Society (SSES). The Medical College and hospital is located in the
outskirts of Tumkur city – 6 km from the city amidst green field in a vast
campus of 220 acres of the side of Bangalore – Honnavar national highway and it
is just 76 Km from Bangalore city connected by road and railway.
The climate is similar to Bangalore. There are 21 buildings
with built-in area of about 73,875 sq. mt at the cost of about Rs. 20 crores,
which include furnished quarters for staffs. There are separate buildings for
pre and para-clinical departments, library and information center and SSMC
Hospital.

Post Graduate Courses
Candidate who has passed the MBBS degree examination after
pursuing a study in a Medical College recognized by the Medical Council of
India of this university or of other recognized medical college affiliated to
any other University, recognized as equivalent there to, and has completed one
year Compulsory Rotating Internship in a teaching institution or other
institution recognized by the Medical Council of India by 30th April 2004 and
has obtained permanent registration of any State Medical Council, shall be
eligible for admission provided the candidate for degree/diploma has not failed
more than four times in final year MBBS subject viz., Medicine, Surgery, OBG
provided further that, in respect of SC/ST and BT candidates should not have
failed more than five times in the above said subjects.
